![]() ![]() I think, more than anything, I was confused while reading this, which is what you're supposed to feel. ![]() I only really fell in love with Stolen seven pages from the end until then, I was on the fence. Stolen is a novel of abduction, but it is also a novel of hope and faith and beauty. When I went into it, I was almost expecting an eventual romance, but there is none and I'm glad there isn't. I do want to say, however, that Stolen was not what I expected. I just need to let this book sit and saturate into me, every part of me because it can and it will and I will let it. I literally just put down Stolen and my can't think. ![]()

![]() ![]() If we were all pastors of mega-churches or world-famous evangelists or sought-after preachers, those things wouldn’t be the extraordinary. Ordinary is the opposite of extraordinary. ![]() This one where we aren’t living as we thought we might or as we hoped we would. ![]() Warren says: I’m living this life, the life right in front of me. That’s how we are to honour God, in the ordinary. My view is that the overarching theme is that most of us do live ordinary lives … and that’s okay. Ironic, given it’s structured around the activities of a typical day.ĭifferent people will probably read different things into the book (isn’t that one of the brilliant things about writing?). It’s a book to be read slowly and savoured, not devoured in a day. If I’m trying to read a book in the wrong season, it’s like trying to build a snowman in midsummer: I might be willing, but there is just nothing there to work with. I also find that nonfiction tends to speak to us in different seasons of life. One is that I find I have to slow down for nonfiction-I can’t devour good nonfiction in a day the way I devour a great novel. Liturgy of the Ordinary certainly did-it released in 2016, and mine is an advance reviewer copy … While I can (and often do) read a novel in a day, nonfiction takes me a lot longer. ![]() I’m changing track slightly today and reviewing a nonfiction book (gasp!). ![]() ![]() Lily Morgan may be Shivaree, Georgia’s most talked about lady. At day’s end, we have spent three to four hours using willpower to squash the urge to eat another cookie, take a nap, order a third martini, play Candy Crush, check in again on Facebook, buy another pair of shoes, lease a Tesla or have an affair. A recent study shows we experience some sort of desire during one out of every two minutes we’re awake, and many of these are cravings we’re trying to resist. If you feel like you move through your days with the devil of temptation on one shoulder and the angel of restraint on the other, there’s good reason. ![]() ![]() PROQUEST AND ITS LICENSORS SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTIES FOR AVAILABILITY, ACCURACY, TIMELINESS, COMPLETENESS, NON-INFRINGMENT, MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. ![]() ![]() The translations are automatically generated "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" and are not retained in our systems.
